Liar, Liar Cant's on Fire: Lies Told by the Enemy

DAY 3 OF 7

Lie #2 - “God can’t use you”

Do you ever feel like your best days are behind you? Do you ever think that maybe the sun has set on your level of contribution to the world? I have good news. Our gifts don’t expire, and our purpose has no shelf life. I’ve had to shift the paradigm on my perspective and adjust the lens through which I view my place in this life. I have adopted the phrase “my goal is to DO my portion WITH my portion.” In a nutshell, I have had to stop trying to do someone else’s portion with gifts I wish I had. I’m living proof that God can use anyone as a vessel to advance or positively impact His Kingdom.

Sometimes we think we can’t be used in a significant way if we aren’t spectacular in all ways. Our enemy has accomplished a lot if he can convince us that we have nothing of value to offer. If he can create reasonable doubt, he has initiated the process of our hopelessness and discouragement. He knows that once we feel useless or insignificant, whispering that “God can’t use you,” he unlocks the door to a dark path within our psychological framework. If I believe that the world is passing me by and my talents are obsolete, I set the table for a feast of more lies.

Our glorious and gracious God made us all unique and didn’t waste anything or anyone. My contribution was intended for a different impact than yours. If I remove myself from the game by apathetically sitting on the proverbial sideline, I am selling God’s plan short for my life. He perfected a good work in all of us and is not finished yet (Philippians 1:6). He CAN, He IS, and He WILL keep using us to bless and serve others. When we encounter roadblocks or barriers, the enemy sees that as an opportunity to pounce on our confidence. When we recognize his futile attempts, we simply and steadfastly must stand on the promises of God and press through the adversity.

CHALLENGE:

Ask God to reveal opportunities for your gifts and talents to be utilized to benefit others.
