Stuck: How God Moves When We Feel Stuck

DAY 1 OF 5

Do you feel stuck? Almost as if you haven’t moved forward in the last several years? Sort of like you’re still in 2020?

If we could time travel and go backward, not one person would've believed the world would shut down due to a pandemic!

A lot of us feel like we’re still stuck in 2020. As if we haven’t moved forward and can’t seem to get traction – in school, in dating, or in our jobs. It can feel like we’ve missed out on years of our lives.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

There are a lot of people in Scripture who also felt stuck at times – people wondering if God could hear them, and questioning if they’d ever get out of the pit they’d fallen into. Over the next few days, we’re going to look at a few different stories in Scripture and discover that God can always forge a way – even when it feels like we’re totally stuck.

In the first book of the Bible, we meet Joseph. Joseph was just a teenager when his eleven brothers decided to sell him into slavery (not exactly what you’d think brothers would do to one another!). They were jealous of the attention he’d received from their Dad and they wanted to do something about it.

Joseph’s life was filled with turmoil – not only was he sold as a slave, but later on, his boss’s wife accused him of attacking her. He was tossed in jail despite being innocent.

In prison, Joseph must’ve felt stuck. He couldn’t get out even if he wanted to! But God saw Joseph and was with him. Joseph had dreams at night, and God gave him the ability to interpret them.

Eventually, Joseph was able to get out of jail, because God gave him the ability to interpret the king’s dreams. Not only was Joseph free from prison, but he became one of the most influential people in his country.

Even though Joseph was literally stuck in prison – God never left him, and God gave him influence.

Who has God given you influence over? How can you use your influence – right where you are – to show people who Jesus is? Pray and ask Jesus to fill you with His ability to help you make a difference.
