Jesus…at Home in Your Heart

DAY 6 OF 6

A home becomes a dark, dreary place without lamps of various shapes and sizes scattered around the rooms. Even a small lamp is able to shed light on dark corners, prevent injury, and warm a room with its cheery glow.

The patriarchs of our faith lived in an extremely dark world, and at nighttime, it was dangerous to walk anywhere without some type of light source. There were no traffic lights, street lamps, or flashlights. So the ingenious men and women of the time tied a small tin cup to a piece of leather and then attached it onto the toe piece of their sandals. As dusk fell, they placed about a tablespoon of oil into the tin cup and lit it with a flame. This small foot lamp gave an adequate beam of light along the unlit pathways of their region.

Thankfully for us, the Word of God is able to shed more light on a subject than modern technology ever will. Psalm 119:105 teaches that God’s Holy Word serves as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path in life. With your heart firmly planted on God’s unfailing foundation, cleansed pure as snow by God himself, and with His love permeating every crevice of your heart and life, you are ready to bring light to a dark world. You are called to use your specific gifts, talents, personality, and sphere of influence to bring others to the table of Christ.

And as you do, Scripture will offer you enormous wisdom for every dark alley you encounter. For doubt, read the Bible; for discouragement, spend time in the Word, and for a troubled heart, open up the sacred pages of Scripture. It will give you all the light you could ever need. You are ready to go into the world and be the hands and feet of Jesus at this moment in history!

Heart Inspection:

When you are troubled in life, what is your first go-to?

Has the Bible ever brought faith to one of your doubts?

Heartfelt Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for the light of the Bible. Thank You that Your Word will always give me just enough light for the next step. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
