We Belong TogetherSample
We All Belong
Welcome to the first day of the We Belong Together Bible Plan! To get you started, you’re going to want to understand what it means to be part of the Body of Christ.
Have you ever heard that phrase? “The Body of Christ” is a description given to us in the Bible as one way of looking at what all of the people who trust and follow Jesus are like, collectively.
When you decide to become a follower of Christ, also known as a Christian, does that mean you become just like every other Christian? No way! You’re still the unique “you” God created. But you belong together with all the rest of the parts of Christ’s body.
Just as a human body is made up of many parts with different functions, so it is with Jesus’ followers. We’re all different, but we all have unique value and purpose—and we were created to work together!
Watch this verse song video from Romans 12:4-5 to get a feeling for the kind of belonging you’ll learn about through each day of this Bible Plan.
Note: Today’s Romans 12:4-5 verse song video used the NLT version of the Bible. If you’d like to read today’s Bible verses from Romans chapter 12 in the same version, that might help you remember it better.
Ask yourself: What’s one thing that’s pretty unique about the way God made me? (You could think about your looks, abilities, talents, special interests, ways of thinking, etc.)
Challenge yourself: Brainstorm several ways you can use the unique way God made you to help others and/or worship God.
Here’s an example. Maybe you have a natural, God-given love for math. You could …
1. Help others in your school who struggle with it.
2. Volunteer to help tutor younger kids.
3. Keep a number journal of how many times per day you have something to be grateful for.
4. Think of how perfect and unchanging God is and thank Him for it every time you solve an equation.
5. Make up some fun math phrases to remind you of God’s goodness, like “God + Me = More than enough!”
Pray: God, thank You for making me. There’s only one of me—zero copies. You’re so amazing because You created all of us in the whole world and never made anybody the same. That’s absolutely awesome. You are so full of good ideas. Help me to learn to use the unique way You created me to serve others and to worship You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
