Faith in All Things

DAY 2 OF 5

Love In Action

I’m one of four kids. Number three to be exact. I have two brothers and a sister, and to say we were a handful as kids is an understatement, getting up to all kinds of mischief and putting my parents through a lot of grief. Like the time I crawled into the boot of my Aunty’s van and made it all the way to their place. The look on my Aunty’s face when my head popped up from behind the back seat made it perfectly clear that this was not one of my smartest ideas.

As kids, we were asked countless times to behave, stop picking on each other, set the table, do our homework, clean up after ourselves, etc. We were kind of annoying. Not because we didn’t love our parents but because we were just being kids.

Reflecting on it now, while I loved my parents, the times where I did something without being asked, like unpacking the dishwasher, were the moments I remember my parents being most touched. When my love was in action, not just in words. What we see in Ruth is love in action. Boaz knows of Ruth before he has even formally met her because her reputation precedes her. Ruth’s love in action is what people came to know of her before she had even spoken a word to them. She doesn’t need to tell them how much she loves Naomi – her actions have done that for her.

When was the last time your actions spoke louder than your words?

About this Plan

Faith in All Things

The story of Ruth is one filled with loss, hope, fear, courage, love, and faith. Through every twist and turn, Ruth and Naomi never lost faith that God was in control, that he in fact was going before them and He knew the bigger picture for their lives. No matter what you’re facing at the moment, our hope is that through the story of Ruth you’ll find strength, and encouragement.
