The Power of Vision

DAY 3 OF 4

What you see is what you get!

Genesis 30:37-39 NIV Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. [38] Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, [39] they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.

This strange story in the Bible is about how Jacob hoodwinked his father-in-law Laban.  Jacob would get all the streaked, speckled and spotted animals so he connived to increase this portion of the flocks.  But, how?  By placing peeled branches in front of the mating animals.  What they saw is what they reproduced.

What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) is the term used in the computer world to describe the system whereby the edited form resembles the finished product.  Would this work in life too?  If you place before you a picture of your vision, will it eventually reproduce in your life?  We have all heard of women hanging pictures of babies in their homes when they want to conceive. Unproven but this may be a way of reinforcing in our beings what we are hoping to achieve.

Pastor Joseph constantly placed the vision before his people so that it could be reproduced in their lives.  There was a map of India with pins on many cities that the New Life Fellowship leaders would pray and envision sending people to preach the gospel and plant churches. What was once a city vision was gradually expanding to an India-wide vision and later on a world-wide one.

Will you place your vision before you?  An image or written text to constantly remind you of what God has called you to.  God told the prophet: Habakkuk 2:2 NIV Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.  A clear vision not only helps us but will enable others too.
