The Secret: How Do You See Love?

DAY 37 OF 42

He Is...

Written By: Nia Hendricks

For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called.”—Isaiah 54:5 (ESV)

Receive this testimony of Christ’s love for you, His Church.

He Is Our Husband

Christ’s love for the Church is an enduring promise. “For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken...” (Isaiah 54:10 NLT). To those who walk with Him, His love endures to the very end (John 13:1). He loves us with a love that is special and set apart. Just as a husband and wife’s love is especially for one another—cut off from others and reserved—so is Jesus’ love for His bride. He loves with a fury, never tiring of His bride. He is the safe place our hearts can rest; never disappointing, never out for His own, never taking advantage (Matthew 11:28).

He Is Our Leader, Lord Over Angels

He loves us by leading us well, stooping down and washing our feet so we may be wholly clean (John 13:4-10). The Lord of Hosts, who governs flocks of angels, knows exactly how and where to lead His Church. He is the Good Shepherd who forsakes all to run after the one sheep that has gone astray. He departed only so that His Spirit may be given to His Church, that all who believe might have the joy and comfort and purity of His company. With all of His power He loves us.

He Is Our Holy Redeemer

Jesus loves us and gave Himself up for us. He abandoned His honor; indeed He was made dishonorable before men, for the sake of His chosen people. He gave Himself up for us because He loves us (Ephesians 5:25). He does not just pity us, no. His love dives to the deepest depths of hell to deliver us into the Kingdom of God. He is the fulfillment of every longing, every joy. He is driven to present His bride pure before God.

He Is God Over All Creation

Over all creation He chose us to be His people, His vessels, His bride. In His grace, our very emptiness makes us fit to be His that we may be filled with His glory! Jesus rejoices in us and transforms us into His likeness, removing only what hinders our rest in Him. He goes before us and in Him all things find their being (Colossians 1:17). He is home, Whom we were created for.
