Free From Guilt

DAY 2 OF 3

Day #2

Do not confuse guilt with the conviction of sin. Guilt takes us away from God and makes us feel unworthy. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin so we will repent. The conviction of sin is proof of our worthiness in the eyes of God because not only does the Lord not reject us, but He wants to lead us out of sin to restore our relationship with Him. If guilt brings despair and sadness, the conviction by the Holy Spirit intends to restore joy and peace through repentance.

In the Bible, the word "guilt" always appears in the expression "guilt offering (sacrifice)". God's solution for our guilt is Jesus' sacrifice for us. Jesus nailed our condemnation to the cross. Anyone who trusts Jesus recognizes he deserved the condemnation himself but believes that Jesus was condemned in his stead. So if guilt devours you and the weight of your sins overwhelms you, confess them to Jesus, renounce them, ask for forgiveness, and receive freedom through faith.

Since Jesus came to set us free from condemnation, He does not want us to live in constant guilt.

Maybe you can't forgive yourself. But if God has forgiven you, your heart must submit to His verdict and you must decide to forgive yourself.

If the apostle Paul could say that there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Jesus, even though he persecuted Christians, you can say that too.

If guilt moves you away from God, rely on His promises by faith in order to draw you closer to Him. Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on yourself. If you look at yourself, you will see only a guilty person. When you look at Jesus, you will see your righteousness.

Don't wait for your feelings to change before you believe. Believe by faith and your feelings will change.

I invite you to pray :

Jesus, I believe Your sacrifice is enough for my sins. I come to You now and declare that I am acquitted. I decide to forgive myself and cast the guilt away from me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
