He Shall Reign

DAY 2 OF 14

When you read even the introduction of the Christmas story in the book of Luke, it’s obvious that Jesus was always “plan A”. There was no “plan B” in God’s design to save His people. Jesus was the fulfillment of every single prophecy of the Old Testament: the perfect, sinless sacrifice, a ransom for many. God knew what He was doing and what was to come for His people, and now, you are included in this great story of redemption.

As Israel’s King & Redeemer, the Lord Almighty can do all things, and we know that He does all things well. When you read the words from Isaiah, “so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting, people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other”, does it instill peace in you? When you wake in the morning to see the rising of the sun and His creation before you, is the world yours to control and manipulate, or do you know deep in your soul the Lord does all these things and reigns above it all?

The real question we must wrestle with today is this: When we know the Lord reigns in our lives, does it change the way we live? Sure, we know “He’s got the whole world in His Hands”, but when we attempt to grasp the reality of the Christmas story and Jesus truly becomes “God with us” in every aspect of our being, there is an ever-present peace that even the hardest circumstances can’t shake off of us.

APPLICATION:

As you reflect on these passages, pray and thank God himself for sending Jesus to save us. If you’re struggling to trust Him today, be open with Him and tell Him. He can handle your honesty, and He wants to hear from His children. Tell Him what’s on your heart today and rest in the truth that the Lord will strengthen you, and there is none like Him. When you finish, read aloud Psalm 103 and let it be your encouragement today.

About this Plan

He Shall Reign

He Shall Reign is a two week Advent study from New Life Church of Arkansas. Throughout this plan, we look at the anticipation of Christ's birth and how He came to establish His kingdom on earth. Our prayer is that this study would remind you of the unshakable reign of our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
