DAY 2 OF 3

For the Loaves and Fishes or from the Heart

In the Scriptures we find two stories where Jesus performed the miracle of multiplying loaves and fishes. The diversity of people who followed him can be grouped into two types; and they currently exist. Some follow the Savior for the miracles, always expecting a benefit. When some time passes without any great occurrence, they get discouraged and walk away. Many of these followers receive healing, but do not stay with the Healer; others receive economic prosperity, but unfortunately walk away from the Provider. Others want their problems solved, but they don't stay with the Defender. Their motivation is conditional. These are the ones who must see to believe and do not learn what it is to walk by faith.

However, there are people who follow Jesus because they recognize his sacrifice gave us salvation and because they believe in the word of God. These are the true believers, who are not stopped by misfortune or adverse conditions to serve the Almighty. These are the ones with perseverance and conviction; those who have learned to believe and yearn to be more like Jesus.

Let's avoid being the group of people who follow Jesus out of interest, out of the simple curiosity of what they can receive in exchange as benefits. To be victorious in all our ways, we must yearn to be more like Him. We must give first to then be able to receive. We must give our heart without reservation so that it is transformed. In many of the miracles that Jesus performed, he asked people to do something, even if it seemed insignificant, thereby demonstrating their faith. When the Master was passing through Samaria, on his way to Galilee, he entered a village and ten lepers came out, stopped at a distance and shouted: "Master, have mercy on us!" When Jesus saw them, he asked them to go and present themselves before the priests, even though they still had leprosy! By their obedience, while on their way, they received the healing they desired.

Remember that the Messiah shed his blood to cleanse mankind from sin. It remains for us to walk the path of obedience, service, love and sacrifice to be more like Jesus.
