Kindness and Gratitude in the Neighborhood!

DAY 6 OF 7

THE BIRTHDAY SONG!

Every year on my late husband’s birthday, I find ways to reach out to others.  This year I packaged up one of his favorites (Hershey mini candy bars) into cellophane bags, tied it up with a note to honor him, and placed a lion sticker on the front of each bag. The lion represents his middle name of Leon and the fierce perseverance he showed as he lived life to the fullest, despite cancer taking his shoulder and left arm.

I delivered the candy bags to five of my neighbors, nieces, nephews, and a sister through marriage.  That morning as we gals went to walk, my neighbor Micki was first in the street. She grabbed my hands and began to shake them up and down, and she started to sing, “Happy Birthday to Dan, Happy Birthday to Dan!”  I joined in, and we moved about happily celebrating together someone she had never met.  Do you know what that spoke to my spirit?

“Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Romans 15:2

Micki didn’t care if other neighbors down the street may have been watching; she did from her heart what God laid on her heart to do.  She may not even think it was a God thing, but I received it as one!

CAN YOU RELATE?

From dinners, pumpkin roll, candy, art gifts, animal print footies, the gals buying donuts for the local firemen honoring their service on 9-11, prayers, hugs, laughter, the walks, the sharing, and the caring; I wish everyone in the world could share kindness and gratitude in the neighborhood!  And, you know what?  They can, and it all begins with YOU! Please join me tomorrow as we complete this devotional on kindness and gratitude.

About this Plan

Kindness and Gratitude in the Neighborhood!

Do you want to be a part of changing our world? Each of us lives in a neighborhood that involves a circle of people. Are you a leader in your life circle or a follower? What you contribute has the power to change an entire group. As that group changes, it becomes a domino effect to others outside the group! Come alongside me as kindness and gratitude open positive doors!!
