Prophets, Visionaries and Dreamers

DAY 5 OF 5

Let's dream again

When was the last time you dared to dream?

When was the last time your dream kept you awake at night?

For about a decade, my wife Lucy and I had in our hearts the dream of building the church in Latin America. It was something we deeply longed for and a dream we knew God had put on our hearts. But with each passing year, the time seemed further and further away when we would see it come to fruition. Until the day came and today we are part of what we had long dreamed of.

My friend, I want to remind you that God's timing is perfect. And every dream comes with a behind-the-scenes process.

In Genesis 37, we read the story of Joseph, who was known as a dreamer. When Joseph told his brothers about the dream he' d had, they hated and rejected him. But that did not stop Joseph from dreaming. And it was after being betrayed and sold by his brothers, after being unjustly accused and sent to jail that Joseph managed to see his dream come true.

A dreamer never stops dreaming, never gives up and never throws in the towel. And if you still have air in your lungs today, it is because God is not finished with you yet.

Don't let time extinguish the flame, don't let the process or the waiting discourage you. Keep the dream alive!

The scripture says in Acts 2:17-18 "Your sons and daughters will prophesy.

Your young men will have visions,

and your elders will have dreams.

In those days I will pour out my Spirit

even upon my servants-men and women alike-

and they will prophesy."

Dreams are not only for the young. For the young to have vision, the old must continue to dream. For the next generation to have dreams, visions and to prophesy, we must keep dreaming.

Regardless of your age, the state of your bank account, or whether your plans have not turned out as you had hoped, dream again. God has not forgotten you and He is not finished with you!

God has plans and purposes for each of us, let's not let the storm override our ability to dream.

We are prophets, visionaries and dreamers because the Holy Spirit empowers us. And prophecy, visions and dreams are evidence that the kingdom of God is in our midst.

As long as there is air in our lungs, there is hope for our future!

Prayer: Lord I thank you that you want to involve us in what you are doing in this world. Challenge our limited way of thinking, help us to unlearn to learn all the new things you have for us and take us to new levels of faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
