How to Live an Epic Life

DAY 1 OF 10

In our modern culture, “epic” seems to be the current buzzword. We have epic movies, epic finishes in sporting events, epic sports cars, and even what some would call epic careers. It seems many people want to be epic, but before you can be epic, you need to fully understand God and His love. This is the key to everything in life.

We know God is holy and righteous, and He must judge sin. If there was a judge who was allowing murderers to go free, no one in their right mind would call him a good judge. We would demand he be fired because we believe in holiness, justice, and righteousness.

God is just and holy. He is righteous, but He is also love. Because we are sinners, we deserve hell. Many people think salvation from hell to heaven is based on “God AND me.” There cannot be any “me” in the plan of salvation. We are tainted sinners. The best we can offer God is comparable to filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6)

When Jesus died on the cross, all our sins were in the future. Often, it is easier for people to grasp their past and current sins are forgiven, but they get hung up on the idea that their future sins are forgiven already. The truth is all our sins were future when Jesus died, and He died for all sin. When we receive the forgiveness of God, the blood of Jesus Christ is put on our account, and we are justified by God.

Does this forgiveness mean we should go out and sin, living however we desire? To echo the words of the Apostle Paul, “God forbid!” (Romans 6:2) Sin hurts us and it hurts those around us. However, we will still sin each day, but when we understand God’s love and forgiveness, we can rest assured there is nothing that can separate us from His love.

Have you taken this first step towards being epic? If not, I encourage you to do it today. Place your trust in the finished work of Christ to pay for your sin.
