Abraham, a Man Who Passed the Test

DAY 3 OF 3

God will sometimes ask us to sacrifice the very thing that means the most to us as a way of demonstrating the level of our love for Him. It could be a person. It might be a dream, an ambition, a hope, a home, a business, material items, a relationship, a form of entertainment, our physical well-being, or anything else. Whatever exists in our lives as an “Isaac”—whatever we love the most—is often what God targets in our tests. This is because it’s easy to let go of something that doesn’t mean much or anything to us. Anyone can get rid of their trash, but not everyone can release what means the most to them.

But whoever said tests would be easy? To live as a kingdom hero like Abraham, you have to give up your life and everything you love for God.

Abraham saw a ram caught in the thicket, retrieved it, and offered it as a substitute sacrifice. Then he named the place Jehovah-Jireh, which means “the Lord will provide.” Just as Abraham had assured Isaac, God provided all they needed to obey Him completely. He will do the same for you.

What are the things that you hold so tightly that God might ask you to offer them to Him?

We hope this plan encouraged you. For more about the Tony Evans ministry, click here.

Day 2

About this Plan

Abraham, a Man Who Passed the Test

Abraham was a man who found himself tested by God. By passing his various tests of faith, Abraham proved himself to be someone who fully trusted in God. Bestselling author Tony Evans reminds us that we will all be faced with tests, even if they are not as extreme as those Abraham went through. But as they did for him, so they offer us an opportunity for growth.
