With You

DAY 2 OF 20

When life is hard, have you ever heard Christians say things like, "God doesn't give more than you can handle," "This too shall pass," or "God works in mysterious ways?" While these phrases can all sound a little corny at times, or sometimes even be hurtful, people say them when they want to say something helpful . . . but often, these phrases are anything but helpful. Sometimes when we don't know what to say, don't have the answer, or even fully understand what someone else is feeling, we need to be reminded God is with us.

When we're called into tough situations with our friends, loved ones, or even strangers, we may not have the perfect slew of words to comfort someone's broken heart or deep hurt. But in those moments, we can offer hope to people who need it through our trust that God is present in the midst of every situation. We are meant to be with people when they're grieving, sharing the hope we have in Jesus, and standing in solidarity with them through their struggles.

How can you be a better friend to someone who's suffering?

About this Plan

With You

Friendship might feel easy when life is easy, but it gets more complicated when your friends are hurting or struggling. What should you do? What should you say? What should you not say? When our friends need help, there are no easy answers, but in this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll see what Scripture invites us to do when others are grieving, lonely, in need, or feeling hopeless.
