God is setting up a trial between himself and false idols. He’s calling even the farthest places (islands!) to pay attention. The first and most impressive piece of evidence of his supremacy is that God has been present from the very beginning. Nations and their false gods are fleeting by comparison. They are unstable and ready to fall at any moment.

Crisis Converted Now:

No matter the cultural moment, God is supreme. No matter the calamity that we face, God ruled before us, rules now and will rule forever. Our governments, our systems, and even the small things that we put hope in (bank accounts, superstitions, traditions) will topple in comparison to God. What have you used for momentary security that you need to turn over to God?
