DAY 3 OF 30

The Love And Mercy Of God

Nothing Can Separate

Unchangeable. Inseparable. This is God’s love for us. There is no failure, mistake, desire, or addiction that can separate us from God’s love. Sometimes words aren’t enough to express how incredible this is. The God of the universe truly loves us. He knows our deepest longings, imperfections, and weaknesses, and He still chooses to love us.

In Romans 8:38, Paul shares this truth with a community of new Christians in Rome. He says, “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” This statement is coming from a man with a scandalous past: Paul was once known for ruthlessly persecuting and murdering Christians. His past could not separate him from God’s love, and neither can ours.  We are all flawed and have messy pasts. But Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross redeems us. That means that no one can condemn us, “for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us” (Romans 8:34). How amazing is that? Jesus is advocating for you - no one and nothing can take that away from you.

What’s more, God is not ashamed of our past either. No matter where we are or what we’ve done, He meets us at our level. God guides us through life in a way that strengthens us and makes us whole. He uses our story to encourage others to experience His love. Just as we see Paul’s past as evidence of God’s unconditional love, others can see the same in our lives.  Today, let’s share about God’s unconditional love to those around us.

PRAYER

God, thank You for Your unconditional love for me. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that nothing can separate me from Your love. When I get discouraged or ashamed of my mistakes, help me to remember how much You still love me. And if I have a friend who also needs to know this truth, help me to share it boldly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
