DAY 22 OF 30

RECOGNIZING GOD

Do you recognize God in everything? In order to do that, you almost have to look at life through a different lens, a different perspective. The season you’re in may have many negative aspects, but if you use a different lens, would you see God working in a new and different way? Let’s look at how the Bible references the idea of “everything” to help us gain a new perspective.

The first time the word “everything” is found is in Ecclesiastes 3:1. It says, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.” One of the verses that follow says, “a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.” In verse 11 it reads, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” The challenge with this truth is that we won’t see the beauty in everything if we aren’t allowing God into every moment of our life.

The second “everything” to notice is found in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. It says, “Give thanks in all things [everything]; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” How do we give thanks in a crisis or moments outside of our control? The answer is found in verse 17: “pray continually.” In other words, invite God into every moment of your life.

God wants to make something beautiful in and through you, no matter what you’re going through. Will you let Him do something wonderful? Will you see and receive it? We encourage you to offer Him your whole heart. Even in busyness, simply offer Him your heart. Come to Him. Ask Him for His perspective. Come with an attitude of love, deep humility, and praise.

Come to God because He is gracious, compassionate, and abounding in love and faithfulness. Remind yourself of who He is so He can remind you of who you are called to be. He will never leave you. Let Him add His purpose and life to everything and every moment in your life.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I confess that I haven’t surrendered all things to You at times. Forgive me for holding onto moments and things that are better off in Your hands. Today, I give You everything. I look to You, the Maker of all things new and wonderful. Guide my every thought, action, and moment. Help me in my weakness to find strength in You. Thank You for never leaving or forsaking me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
