Board Walking in Christ

DAY 1 OF 7

Walking on Water

Have you ever thought that walking on water was actually possible?

Sometimes we think something is impossible because we’ve never seen it done before or because we’ve actually never done it ourselves. One of these things is walking on water. When I first started surfing, I believed it was impossible to walk with elegance on my longboard and reach the nose of the board with a perfect hang-ten; impossible to turn around, crossing one of my legs backwards.

But what seems impossible can become a reality when we focus on the right way that allows us to achieve the impossible.

At the beginning of the Bible, a man named Enoch appears, who is not talked about much. It is only said that he “walked faithfully with God.” The Bible doesn’t give much detail about Enoch except that he and God shared a great friendship and “then he was no more, because God took him away” (Genesis 5:21–24).

Some believe that God is someone who only enforces rules in people’s lives, but the idea of faith is actually to walk together with Him. For example, see the story of Noah, who always “walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 6:9), or  of “Abraham, [his] friend,” as God called him (Isaiah 41:8).

The list continues, with people like Job and his relationship with God in the midst of suffering; or Deborah, who led her nation for many years. We see how the prostitute Rahab showed a solid faith in the most critical moment of her life, and that Daniel was “very loved” by God. Just like them, there are many men and women who are examples of people who had a friendship with God.

In the gospels we find Jesus calling His disciples to “be with Him” (Mark 3:13–14) and He also liked to gather to eat with His friends Martha, Mary and Lazarus. Later on, He explicitly says that His disciples were His friends: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13–15).

Have you ever thought you could be friends with God? Be assured, for Jesus is waiting for you to start a relationship with Him, to start surfing as friends, and start walking together in life and on the waves!

Day 2

About this Plan

Board Walking in Christ

Jesus was the first-ever known man to walk on water. One day, He called his friend Peter and invited him to step onto the water and walk to Him, and asked him to ignore the storm around him. If you feel rocked by the waves around you or struggles in your life and need a rock to hold onto, this is the plan for you.
