A Giving God - a Giving Person

DAY 1 OF 4

Prayer: God, thank you for all that you have given me. I pray that I will declare your goodness to those around me so that they may see how good you are to them. Amen.

God Gives

Giving can be a hard thing to do. There may have been times when a friend, family, or stranger asked you for financial support and it was hard to provide for any number of reasons. Someone might ask to host something in your home because they don’t have the space themselves. Maybe a friend needs a ride because you have a car and they don’t. Giving your money, time, or resources can be a hard thing to do, but as Christians, it is a way to reflect God‘s love. God is the perfect example of a giving heart.

The Creator of heaven and earth gave all of humanity a purpose. God is not a hoarder of his love and power - he gives freely, and he wants us to be givers too. The most significant gift of all was Jesus. The Son of God is the perfect example of how to love the Father with all your heart, soul, and mind. Jesus not only gave his time and heart, but he demonstrated his love for us when he took our place on the cross. He gave his life not just for you but for all of humanity. Looking at God's heart will allow your heart to be transformed.

Questions to Ask Yourself

  1. Who should get the credit for the good in your life?
  2. How have you seen God provide in your life?
  3. When have you asked the Father for something and he provided?
  4. When did you believe in Jesus and how are you different because of his love, death and resurrection?

What’s Next?

  1. God has blessed you tremendously, but it's easy to forget that he is the ultimate source of all good things. Write down 20 things you are thankful for and praise him for the big and small things he has placed in your life.
  2. As you go about your day, practice saying "thank you" in your mind to the Lord.
