P. R. A. Y. Pause. Reflect. Ask. Yield.

DAY 1 OF 5

PAUSE

Whether you are caring for your own young children, caring for someone else's young children, or simply navigating the busyness of life, there's often a frenzy that can consume us, making it hard to pause and breathe, even once we have space to do so. The who and why can easily get lost in the how and now

Pause for a minute to take a few deep breaths to calm your body and mind. Go ahead. Actually do it!

Now take a minute to spiritually refocus. Read Psalm 46:10. As it says, “be still and know” that God is God and deserves to be exalted. He’s the one behind your humble service. He’s the one who knows each person involved and what they need from each other and from Him. He’s the one who calls each and everyone - childcare workers, young mothers, toddlers, babies - by name and knows every hair on every head. He’s the ultimate WHO that you serve.

Read Isaiah 52:7. You are the people who “bring the good news, who proclaim peace, (and) who bring good tidings” this week, especially to the parents and children you are caring for and serving. When things get hard, be sure to pause, breathe, and remember why you are serving.

REFLECTION

How did you feel when you paused to calm yourself?

What did God reveal to you as you read the passages?

When has someone else served you and “proclaimed peace” or brought “good tidings” to you?

Take a minute to pause again and have a conversation with God. Ask Him to help you pause throughout camp, your event, or wherever you may be to help you remember both the “who” and the “why”.

Day 2

About this Plan

P. R. A. Y. Pause. Reflect. Ask. Yield.

In a fast-paced and frenzied world, it's important to take time each day to Pause, Reflect, Ask, and Yield (P.R.A.Y.); to slow down and breathe in the blessings of the Spirit; to set our hearts and eyes on Jesus and to join with the Lord in pouring compassion on his beloved children.
