Becoming a Bold Entrepreneur: A 3-Day Devotional

DAY 2 OF 3

Do you ever get stuck in your business? Do you know where you want to go but can’t seem to get there?

Me, too.

It reminds me of my favorite car of all time: my bright red Hummer. It was a great car. It looked good and was fun to drive, but over the years, I continually ran into one flaw. When I really needed the Hummer to work, when I was counting on it to take me where I wanted to go, I’d climb up into the seat, turn the key, and nothing would happen. Not a single cough or whir. I was going nowhere.

My business is no different. Time and time again, I’ve had high hopes and made big plans, but just when I needed my business to really take off . . . there I sat. Stranded. Immovable. My business battery was dead.

The same is true for all of us who want to make a real difference. We can talk a big game but, on our own, we just don’t have the power to achieve God-sized results.

There’s only one hope. It’s the same hope I had for my stranded Hummer: to be hooked up to a power source greater than its own. For my Hummer, that power came in the form of a jump start from a car with a working battery.

For you and me and our businesses, that power comes from a God of limitless power and possibility. Listen to what He offers: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us . . .” (Ephesians 3:20).

God’s power is not only available to do things for us, but he is also willing, able, and eager to do things in us and through us.

Little, old, entrepreneurial us.

We will face dozens of crossroads today, big and small. We can handle these the same way we always have by gutting it out on our own (and continuing to get the same results we’ve always gotten). Or, we can hook the battery of our minds, hearts, and beliefs to a stronger, purer, never-failing power source and achieve results like we’ve never even dreamed before.

Let’s pray today and every day that we would be wise enough to stop self-sourcing and instead rely on God’s power.
