Real Hope: Finding Shelter

DAY 2 OF 5

God's Wisdom During The Storm

There is no denying that our journey through life is often hit by storms. Storms of change. Storms of adjustment. Storms of uncertainty. When they hit we often cry out for God’s shelter and in His mercy and grace He gives us that shelter. He covers us with His umbrella of peace, love, and hope. A shelter to weather the downpour. But let’s consider if there may be a next step.

God’s Word also talks a lot about asking for wisdom. Sometimes, rather than staying put under our ‘umbrella’, we are required to move forward and grow through these challenging times. The kind of wisdom that God gives can be a way of not just weathering the storm but, like a skillful ship’s captain, we can move forward and navigate our way through and out of it. The shelter of God is always with us and we reach the destination He wants us to get to, arriving wiser and stronger for the next storm and maybe even more equipped and ready to help others as well.

You may be thinking, ‘I get it. I know about God’s wisdom.' Knowledge is great but wisdom is even better. One of my favorite quotes was by the British journalist Miles Kington: ‘Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.’

Maybe your next storm is your chance to move from knowledge to wisdom. God is our shelter. He is also the giver of wisdom and He wants to give wisdom generously. Receive shelter. Gain knowledge. Ask for wisdom.

About this Plan

Real Hope: Finding Shelter

Life has a way of throwing us curve balls. Whether it is illness, relationship breakdowns, changes in job circumstances, financial challenges or just change in general. This plan is created to prompt us to seek God first in the moments of change and challenge. To turn to the arms of God knowing He is our place of rest, peace and shelter.
