Christian Minimalism: Simple Steps for Abundant Living

DAY 1 OF 7

Day 1- Minimalism and the Christian Life

Our lives tend to be overstuffed with things, time commitments, and energy suckers. We often wish we could streamline our lives and actually spend time, energy, and resources on the more important aspects of life.

This is actually possible! Christian minimalism aims to help people focus on what matters most and intentionally remove everything else, all the while putting Jesus at the center of one’s life.

Many people hear the word “minimalism” and think of a life devoid of color and joy. This could not be further from the truth! Minimalism—especially Christian minimalism—is a lifestyle that makes room for everything that is most important. Jesus invites us to an abundant life (John 10:10).

Living an abundant, or full, life is what Jesus wants for us. That full life includes spending our time and energy and resources on what matters most, which means removing anything that keeps us from living that abundant life Jesus wants for us.

Jesus reminds us in Luke 12:34 that whatever we focus on as most important is where our heart is.

Christian minimalism helps us to be intentional about what our treasure is, and where we truly put our heart. Jesus himself lived a simple, minimalist life. We are called to be like Jesus and live a life of intentionality and simplicity. And God is going to help us do it.

Day 2

About this Plan

Christian Minimalism: Simple Steps for Abundant Living

We all know our purpose in life is not wrapped up in accumulating possessions, wealth, power, and prestige--Jesus is very clear about that--but society tells us otherwise. Christian Minimalism attempts to cut through our assumptions and society's lies about what life should look like and invites readers into a life that Jesus calls us to live: one lived intentionally, free of physical, spiritual, and emotional clutter.
