Don't Lose Hope

DAY 2 OF 5

Planted, You Will Flourish

In the slow wait for her miracle, what did Hannah do?

One of the first things that I noticed regarding Hannah's attitude is that she remained planted in the house of the Lord.

As we can read in 1 Samuel 1: 3-7, Elkanah went to the temple of God every year, to be in His presence and worship Him. At that time, people didn't go to church every Sunday, but they went to the temple every year.

Imagine how difficult it would have been for Hannah to go worship God when she still didn't see an answer to her prayers. It would probably have been easier for her to stay home, give up and say “What am I going to the temple for if my miracle hasn't come yet? Why am I wasting my time?"

But it was not like that. In the middle of her pain, Hannah continued to be faithful. She didn't allow her circumstances to separate her from the house of God.

When we find ourselves in a season of pain, heartache, and waiting, we must not give up. If we do, without realizing it, we'll be moving away from the only place where we can receive encouragement and strength to move forward: the house of God.

Your life was not designed for you to be lived alone. God created you to grow and flourish in community. It is in the house of God where you will find the right people who can speak words of life into your circumstance. In His house, you will find the courage to move on.

The Word of God tells us that "the righteous will flourish like palm trees".

Did you know that palm trees bloom in the middle of the desert?

If you live planted in the house of God, you will be able to flourish in the same way despite the winds, storms and difficult situations. Nothing can shake you.

Psalm 84:10-11

“A single day in your courts

is better than a thousand anywhere else!

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than to live the good life in the house of the wicked.

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield;

He gives us grace and glory.

The Lord will not withhold any good

to those who do what is right.”

What is the right thing to do? To plant ourselves in the house of God.

Today, I want to challenge you to make the effort to remain planted and you will see how God fills you with hope and encouragement. Perseverance is everything!

Prayer: Lord, I ask You to help me stay planted in Your house in every season of my life. Help me to connect with the right people who will lift my arms in the midst of waiting. Amen.
