Fervent: Fight Fear With Faith Sample
Every day we have a choice – to “hold fast” to the Lord or not. Holding fast or in some translations, “cleaving” has the same connotation as being faithful, almost in a marital sense. And most married people can say this without batting an eyelid, being faithful to our spouses has nothing to do with any loving feeling or roses and chocolates. It’s a choice. To love. To honor. To respect. To cherish. To be faithful. To submit. To give selflessly. And each day, we have the same choice with our Lord. To love Him when we don’t “feel” it. To honor Him, when we’d rather be independent. To submit to Him even when we don’t understand His ways. To cling to Him even when it seems like the most foolish thing to do. Our choices may never make sense to the world around us. We may be branded as fools. But we know something that sheds new light on our choice – we receive life. Each of us. What a promise!
Pray that:
• We would choose to “hold fast” to God every day.
• We would see the choices before us each moment—life and death—and choose wisely.
• We would trust God even when it seems the most foolish thing to do.
