God is eternal

We are temporary creatures. We are born, grow up and die. Generations come and go. Even the world had a beginning and will be renewed when Jesus returns. We can hardly imagine that it could be different.

But God is completely different. He created time and space, but he himself exists beyond it in eternity. He transcends time, he is without beginning or end.

For us humans this concept is difficult to grasp. At the same time, it is comforting that our God is not limited by the constraints we face. He does not change, and he is not bound to one physical place. When we think about this, we are filled with awe.

We, humans, are fleeting, but if we believe in Jesus, we share in his eternity. “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40) Isn’t that an unbelievable promise?!
