Love That Heals the Pain | a 7-Day Plan by Doxa DeoSample
Generous Living
Matthew 5:16 MSG “Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
Love is generous. Generosity is revealed when a community shares what they have to the advancement of the kingdom.
Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive.
True generosity does not seek public validation and is not about being seen. At the heart of generosity is giving of yourself to others; helping those in need; giving your things away; empowering others; and celebrating the favour of God in people’s lives around us.
“So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush.
Live a lover’s life, circumspect and exemplary, a life that Jesus will be proud of: bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11 MSG)
Where can you be more generous with your time and resources?
How can you contribute to the body of Christ? E.g. serving on a team, helping at children’s ministry, dropping off a friend’s kids at home, taking a meal to someone who is sick, etc.
