How to Encounter God - a Practical GuideSample

In at least five places in the Bible, you will find one of the most beautiful and amazing promises of God:

Deuteronomy 4:29 (ESV)

But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Proverbs 8:17 (ESV)

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Matthew 7:7 (ESV)

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Luke 11:9-10 (ESV)

And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened.

The God of all the universe promises to make Himself known to us. What a privilege! What an honor! That the Lord God Almighty would choose to reveal Himself to us is beyond understanding. What is man that You are mindful of him O God?! 

It is no wonder then that Yahweh does not promise to reveal Himself to just anyone. There are conditions to His promise:

1. We must seek. Our King wants to be pursued. 

2. We must seek Him wholeheartedly. Not only does He want to be pursued, but He wants to be pursued with all diligence, all our heart, and all our soul.

I have staked my life on these promises. God WILL be found if we seek Him. So then, why have so many of us not had a personal encounter with Him? The problem cannot be with Him. So, it must be with us. Could it be that we have not sought Him with everything yet?

Over the next few days, we will explore the barriers we must push past to get to that place of ferocious, wholehearted, zealous pursuit. My prayer is that our time together will lead you to encounter God in a greater way than ever before!

Lord, as I study Your Word over the next few days, birth in me a greater hunger for You.
