I Am

DAY 1 OF 7

Have you ever asked yourself the question who is God? Sometimes it feels like we are told about what God does or why we should trust him, but how can we trust someone we don’t know about? To answer the question of who God is, it is best to hear specifically from God himself — Jesus, God in human form. We use the term “trinity” to describe God because there are three persons within our one God: God the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The fact that we serve a God who is one God but has three persons is a little confusing — even to the most well-educated Biblical scholars. But, we know that our God is part of a trinity, and Jesus, God the son, lived on earth and took on human form even though he was still 100% God. While Jesus was on earth, he occasionally told people who he was in specific statements called the “I Am” statements. There are 7 of them all found in the book of John. Jesus says all of these I Am statements to tell his followers about who he is. We can still learn who God is today by reading and learning all about how Jesus described himself.

Challenge: Take time today to prepare your heart for the next six days of this Bible reading plan. Spend time intentionally praying today that the Holy Spirit would prepare your heart for what you are going to learn.
