My Personal War Strategy for Young Adults

DAY 5 OF 5

DAY FIVE: Don’t Do It Alone - HEEEEEEEEEY FRIEND!!!

This is our final day of this devotion, but it doesn’t mean we stop growing here. There is a sisterhood of young women who are just like you. If you haven’t already, know that one day you’ll find each other. When you do make sure you cherish them. Life should not be done alone. We can’t always trust ourselves, but in community we can lean on others as accountability partners who help us to feel seen, challenge us to grow, and choose to embark on learning with us through every season of our life. These women become like sisters, cousins, aunties, and friends.

There is nothing like a friend cheering you on and giving you every affirmation in the book. Often, it's an unexpected truth that you need to hear. In moments that you accept what your insecurities say and don’t recognize that it’s a lie, you can count on your girls to tell you when you’re sleeping on yourself.

Friends who pray together stay together, so please don’t be shy. It took me a long time, but I understand now the true value of female friendships! We need women we can talk to when times get tough. The hardest part about life is feeling like you are the “only one”—which is the farthest thing from the truth. We all encounter “things” in life; we may have different experiences, but the impact of those experiences are often similar. There is so much power in our stories, and if we would dare to connect and build out our communities, WE would be unstoppable.

Moment of Reflection: Take a moment and make a list of the women you admire whether you know them personally or not. Consider what her life has contributed to your identity. I challenge you to thank her for being who she is. Whether it's a prayer that will meet her at heaven's gates or an unexpected phone call, text, or DM, I’m sure she’ll be happy to hear that her life matters to you.

Prayer: God, thank you for these intentional five days of reflection. I have grown in my perspective as a child of God. I thank you that connections are being made, and that I am breaking toxic cycles as I level up in every season. Thank you for your revelation and power. Thank you for your love and grace. Amen.
