eKidz Devotional: All About PeaceSample
Be A Peacemaker
DRAMA! It seems to be all around us — school drama, family drama, friend drama… It can feel VERY overwhelming and exhausting and make it difficult to have peace. But did you know God wants you to be a peacemaker?
A peacemaker is someone who settles an argument or stops a fight. It’s someone who builds others up instead of tearing them down. Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Let’s look at the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25. Abigail was the wife of a landowner named Nabal. During this time, David was running from King Saul, and he sent some of his men to ask Nabal to share some food and supplies. But Nabal was unkind and hurled insults at David, who told his men to get ready to fight.
Yet, Abigail was wise and kind! Without Nabal knowing, she took food and supplies to David and his men. She encouraged David not to attack Nabal. Abigail was a peacemaker! David thanked her, stopped the attack, and kept the peace.
In today’s episode of “Cloud City Chaos,” there were some arguments between Leo, Glacia, and Flash. But Bubbles knew something important — we can all step in and be peacemakers when others aren’t getting along. Check out this audio clip.
Ask yourself: What does it mean to be a peacemaker, like Jesus was? What are some ways you can be a peacemaker?
Challenge yourself: Be like Abigail this week. Instead of complaining, comparing, or criticizing others, be a peacemaker. We’re called to actively make peace, and peace is made by building others up. You can do this by showing them you are grateful for them and what they mean to you.
Pray: God, thank You for showing us how to be peacemakers. This week, help me to not just receive peace, but to actively show peace to others. Help me be a peacemaker in every situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
