Our Enoughs and Everythings
Acceptance and the art of letting go are some of God’s toughest lessons to learn. They are topics I often work with clients on and I, myself, practice daily. They also seem to be some of the most difficult hurdles in the infertility journey.
The acceptance of my childfree not by choice, yet childfull life does not mean I do not have the losses. It does not even mean that I like it most days. Acceptance is simply practicing my work every day to accept what is, what I cannot change and how to be okay in spite of the lifelong losses of infertility.
This work in active acceptance comes with the determination of what our enoughs and everythings are, especially in the infertility journey.
Only we can determine when enough is enough and what our everything is.
Have you done everything you can? Have you done everything you need to?
Have you done enough? Have you lost enough? Have you suffered enough?
Have you tried for long enough? Have you spent enough? Have you explored enough other options?
Defining our enoughs and our everythings in order to let go, embrace and move forward.
I think what we all must remember is that only we can define what is everything and when enough is enough. When we define these through others’ expectations or society or because it is “what we are supposed to do” it only comes from a place of shame; a place of not honoring ourselves or His story for us.
Our enoughs and our everythings can, and need to, only be defined within ourselves and with His guidance; defined by turning towards one another and turning toward Him.
Believe, because all things are possible through Christ and know your limits. God is with you each step of the way.
