Comeback: An Easter Devotional for Kids Sample
The Last Supper, Part Two
By the Calvary Kids Team
When I was in seventh grade, I learned how to do fractions in math class. These were tough, and there were some quizzes and problems where I didn’t understand a single thing. I’m sure that’s happened to you in math or science or history before. The teacher says something, and they might as well have been speaking another language!
Read John 14:1–7 and then come back for some questions.
John 14:1–7 (NIRV)
“'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God. Believe in me also. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. If this were not true, would I have told you that I am going there? Would I have told you that I would prepare a place for you there? If I go and do that, I will come back. And I will take you to be with me. Then you will also be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.' Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we don’t know where you are going. So how can we know the way?' Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father also. From now on, you do know him. And you have seen him.'"
- What did Jesus say that Thomas couldn’t understand?
- When Jesus responded to Thomas He called Himself three things. What were they? (Hint: The w______, the t______ and the l_____)
- Jesus said that if we know Him, we will know His Father! How do we get to know Jesus?
In the week leading up to Jesus dying on the cross, He told people that He was the way to God and that He was God Himself! It’s kind of hard to understand and there are a lot of really smart people that have been trying to explain it for centuries! But the most important thing is that you know that what Jesus says is true, and He gives us His words on every page of the Bible! Only three more days until Easter! Come back to see what else happens!
Dear God, thank You that You sent Your Son to show us what You are like and the things You care about. When I read the Bible, help me to see You in every story! You are awesome, and I love you! Amen.
