Book of 1 Thessalonians

DAY 2 OF 3

UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WILL

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. (1 Thessalonians 4:7)

God has chosen us and He desires to see us bear fruit. May the fruit of His truth be found in our lives.

There are many traffic signs on our roads and highways and when we learn to drive we must learn about them. Can you imagine what would happen if we, and other drivers, did not obey the traffic signs? There would be all sorts of chaos and accidents!

If God wants holiness in our lives, then we need to have His signs in our lives. Otherwise, we will fall into sins. Holiness is an absolute price for us to meet the Lord because, without holiness, we will not receive God’s favor.

This dark world is filled with the allure to please our flesh: the lust of the eyes, and the lust of sin. God wants us to conquer all of these temptations. The Apostle Paul advised God's people to have their eyes focused only on Jesus. These are the signs that we need to follow: eyes that are on Christ and not on the world. When our eyes are fixed on Christ, we can live on earth in holiness.

Holiness is an attitude of fearing the Lord and separating oneself from everything that is against God's Word. It may look difficult, but if we cling to the Lord, we will get the strength to live holy for the Lord.

The Bible says: “Be holy because I am holy.”
