Bold Faith - Part 1 - SE StudentsSample
“Bold Faith Moves Beyond Belief.”
Let’s start by asking the question that matters most today: what is faith? Maybe you’ve grown up in church and you’ve heard the word “faith” all the time, but you might not have a great idea of what it really means for you personally. Maybe you’re reading this Bible Plan and the idea of faith is a foreign concept to you altogether.
If you google the definition of faith you’ll see this: “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.” Hearing that definition, you might begin to think you’re not a person of faith, because, let’s be real—it’s hard to have complete trust or confidence in anything.
Each day, every single one of us lives in faith. When you wake up in the morning and walk over to the light switch, without even thinking about it, you trust that when you flip the switch, light will come rushing into your room. You can’t see what’s happening, but you’ve learned to have confidence in the technology.
This week, we’re going to look at the story of a man named Joshua. Joshua was an ordinary person who modeled bold and courageous faith. We want you to look for opportunities to live in faith—to trust that God will do exactly what He’s promised even though you cannot see Him working. For Joshua, that meant trusting God really would lead the Israelite people into the land God had promised them.
