Habits in Middle School

DAY 27 OF 35

Written by Justin, age 14, from Perth, Western Australia

I recently went to a revival session (or maybe you call it a worship gathering) that included around 14 teens and 5 youth leaders. Together, we worshiped and read passages about how to pray. While reading, I realized that the best way to pray was to be straightforward with what you want to ask or say.

But as I listened to the others speak, it made me think about how sometimes I forget to pray because I’m so worn out from all the schoolwork I am loaded with (not to mention the other extracurricular activities I still have to do!). Maybe you can relate. Every time I feel like I’m disconnected from God, the people around me seem to light up with the Holy Spirit, meaning I can see God in them. I don’t know about you, but when I see God in somebody else, it makes me want to talk to God even when I am busy. It makes me understand that even though sometimes we move further and further away from God, there are always other ways for us to get closer to Him. One of those ways is through prayer!

Today, spend time in prayer, thanking God for wanting to be close with you.
