I Have Faith That God Will Answer My Prayers

“Now flash your light on the prayers

where you see God’s great big yes!

And turn the flashlight off 

Where your yes has not come yet….”

“Sometimes we see His ‘yes’,” Mom says with a hug.

“And sometimes we just don’t.

But just because it hasn’t happened

Doesn’t mean it won’t.”

Devotion

It’s always nice when God answers our prayers right away! The kid at school who used to be mean becomes a friend. You feel super brave and jump into the pool—and it was fun! Or maybe you prayed you could see your grandma or grandpa and you did. But what do we do when God doesn’t answer our prayers right away? We keep praying!

The more we ask God to answer our prayers, and the more we pay attention to where He has answered them before, the more we learn to trust in Him. He loves for us to come to Him again and again with our questions, fears, and worries. Praying is one way we can put our faith into action.

What is a prayer God answered right away? What is a prayer God has not answered yet?

Prayer

Dear God, just because you haven’t answered my prayer for ______ doesn’t mean you won’t someday. I have faith that You hear me, You love me, and You will answer my prayer at just the right time- in the way that you know is best for me. Amen.

Next time it is dark, go outside and look up at the stars. How many can you count? How many do you think God can count? Why can’t we see all the stars that God can see?
