Seeing With God

DAY 4 OF 5

In John 14:18-23, Jesus lets His disciples know that He will not leave them as orphans. I love the Amplified Classic Version of these verses. In verse 21 Jesus says, "...And whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will SHOW (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]

My goodness, I love it! Jesus began by giving a promise to His disciples but then He includes the word, "WHOEVER!" That includes you and me! Whoever, really loves Jesus will see Him. That is a serious promise. He wants to make Himself real to those of us who love Him.

In verse 23, Jesus goes on to say, "If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and my Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

What does it look like to keep His word (teachings)?

Well for starters, there is a commandment or two that He presented as the "Greatest". "...Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect)." (Matthew 22:37 AMPC) The second commandment He shares involves loving others as you love yourself. (Matthew 22:39)

Loving Jesus and keeping His word starts there! As we engage ourselves with His commandments and grow to really love Him, He promises to "show" Himself and make Himself "real" to us.

I get so super excited about this because when you really love someone, you really want to see what they've got to show you. I want to see what Jesus wants to reveal about Himself to me and I'm also anticipating what He wants to show me about myself! I know you feel the same! There's so much in store as we look to Him in expectation. His goodness can never be exhausted!

Use your Ephesians 1:17-18 prayer again today, asking Jesus to illuminate your imagination and make Himself real to your heart.

About this Plan

Seeing With God

We often spend most of our prayer time listening for God's voice, but there is more! God wants to speak to us, but He also wants to show us some things as well. Open the eyes of your understanding and allow God to show you heaven's plans for your life. Are you ready to see what He sees about you?
