God Is With You: Dealing With Fear, Discouragement and AnxietySample
EVERYTHING THROUGH COMMUNION
In Luke 24:13, after Jesus’s burial, we see two of His disciples on the way to a town called Emmaus trying to understand everything that had happened and was happening. They seemed to be overwhelmed. After a while, Jesus Himself joins them and asked them what they were talking about. And at that moment seemingly exhausted by everything, “they stopped with their faces downcast.” It seemed like they had to take a moment and muster energy before they began to go over everything that had been happening and everything they had been going through to Him. It says they were “kept” from recognizing Jesus that was with them at that moment. Could it be that the exhaustion and confusion they were feeling were keeping them from recognizing/discerning that it was Jesus?
But they sit with Jesus and while they were communing suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized Jesus. They realized that in the middle of trying to understand everything that was happening, Jesus was there. Communion led them to revelation. In the midst of everything today, Jesus is there. He is alive, and He is working. Focusing on everything that is happening will indeed lead us to exhaustion, confusion, anger, and sorrow. But communing will lead us to Jesus—the answer to everything.
After considering all the evil around him, David says in Psalms 73:16-17, “When I thought how to understand all this, it was too painful for me - until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.”
Life Application
Like David, let’s understand everything through communion and not on our own.
Prayer
Lord, help me choose communion and give me your understanding about everything that is happening today!
