Biblical Success - Crossing the Finish Line. Our Race Won, What’s Heaven Like?

DAY 2 OF 4

You might think the physical part of heaven is the easiest to imagine because we are so much more familiar with physical things and can maybe visualize them most easily. But maybe not so much. Scripture says “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Pause a minute and reflect; what is the most beautiful sight you have ever seen? It can be anything. What takes your breath away to remember the sight of it? A person, a landscape, anything, a cathedral..... Heaven is more beautiful than that. While living in Florida I once turned into the west and saw the most incredible sunset. There was pink and blue and gold spread across the sky in a breathtaking display of beauty. I caught my breath and in my mind I said, “Oh God, that is so beautiful!” I heard the whisper of the Spirit say “Buck, everywhere your eye shall fall in heaven is more beautiful than that.” I will never forget that moment.

Now pause again and reflect; what is the most beautiful sound you have ever heard? A song, a sonnet, a bird’s song? Your child’s voice saying “I love you!” The sounds of heaven will be more beautiful.

No, we can’t even imagine the wonder and beauty of the sights and sounds of heaven and physically, pure gold is the common building and paving material of heaven. In comparison how many cement rings and jewelry pieces do we see on display here on earth? The New Jerusalem will be 1500 miles square with streets and walls of pure gold and gates made of huge pearls decorated with precious gems. Heaven will be physically more beautiful than we can ever imagine, overwhelmingly more beautiful.

Read a bit from Revelation chapter 21 and then let’s talk about it. How beautiful is heaven physically, really? How beautiful are the sights and sounds of heaven? What are your thoughts?

About this Plan

Biblical Success - Crossing the Finish Line. Our Race Won, What’s Heaven Like?

Continuing our examination of life as a Christ-follower using the metaphor of running a race on earth with running the “race of life” of Hebrews 12:1 we will discuss crossing the finish line and entering Heaven. Using Revelation 22,23 and various other resources from scripture we will discuss some of the conditions we will find in Heaven and how they compare with life on earth.
