OVERCOMING FEAR OF BEING SEEN 

It’s good to be humble; no one likes a show-off! With this in mind, we can rightfully side-step the limelight and avoid opportunities to become too proud of ourselves. We can opt to lead a quiet life, in fear of building our own egos. 

But the pendulum can swing too far the other way, and we can avoid honest opportunities to share our gifts and talents. By hiding the God-given uniqueness and beauty we carry, we can actually limit God moving in our lives, and in the lives of others. We fear being seen and put a lid on God being revealed in, and through, us. 

We must hide no longer!  We are lights, and lights are meant to be seen. We are unique reflections of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and others could be transformed by encountering Jesus in us.

Jesus calls us to be the light of the world, so that we bring glory to God. Our radiance points to God, and we won’t become big-headed if we remind ourselves that we light up places because of the Christ in us. God is the Source of our light, and our exploits are opportunities for God to reveal His Spirit in the world, so let’s allow our light to shine!

Action: Let’s hide no more! Let’s ask God today for opportunities to bring glory to Him through our unique contribution. What can we offer to that meeting, or that relationship, or that need? Let’s pray and act on every opportunity He gives us. It’s time to let our light shine!
