Book of Jonah

DAY 2 OF 3

GOING OUT FROM THE DARKEST HOTEL

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:8)

Jonah's disobedience to God's voice made him be thrown into the sea. Then God commanded a large fish to come to swallow Jonah. Some argue that Jonah finally died in the belly of the fish but on the third day the fish was resurrected and vomited, and this fulfilled the sign of Jonah that was delivered by the Lord Jesus to declare His resurrection on the third day. Our lesson from Jonah’s story is about his disobedience.

There was a price that Jonah paid for disobedience. In his prayer, Jonah said that he was in the darkness of the realm of the dead. Let’s pray that we would not experience the same thing as a result of our disobedience. This experience made Jonah repent and turn to the Lord, and God commanded the big fish to vomit up Jonah on the shore.

The Ninevites were surprised by Jonah's miraculous presence. This made them listen to Jonah’s message. They repented and God's salvation was revealed to Nineveh through Jonah who had truly repented before the Lord.

We may have been in a place of darkness because of our transgressions, but there can be repentance from the Holy Spirit at the end of it. Know that you are transferred from darkness to God's miraculous light so that you can deliver the news of salvation to many people.

Do not be afraid to be obedient because we will obtain His promise when we obey Him.
