DAY 3 OF 6

Directional Needs

Ps.23:3a “He renews my strength… He restores my soul…” [NLT& NRSV]

If you are going to hear God speak to your heart, you need to be at rest and not in a rush. Find a place of solitude, eliminate distractions, focus your mind, and set your heart on God, and you will not lack direction. Your Shepherd knows where the correct path is. He knows which direction you ought to take. Our circumstances never determine the leading of God; they can only confirm God’s leading.

Why will He lead you into His will and show you the way to go?

Ps.23:3b “He guides me along right paths, bringing honour to his name… He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.” [NLT & NRSV]

In the Bible, the concept of a name is more than just a label of identification. It represents Reputation and Character. "For Your name sake" means in furtherance of Your reputation and for the fame of Your character. He will lead you on the right paths for your life FOR HIS NAME SAKE, not for your name sake. It is not about your story; it is about His glory. Your story is for His glory.

Pray for yourself, your children [even those yet unborn], and for the Church of Jesus Christ. Say, “Father, restore our soul, renew our strength in the Name of Jesus. Restore every weariness and tiredness in us with Your strength, oh God of heaven. I pray that we will not be weary, we will not be tired, and we will not faint. Father lead us, guide us in the path of righteousness, in the right paths so that we can bring honor to Your Name, for Your Name’s sake in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Father, lead us in the path of righteousness so that we will bring honor to Your Name. Help us not to stray off the path of righteousness in Jesus Name. Amen.”

As you sing this Hymn, bring all your directional needs to mind and focus your heart on the Good Shepherd, the shepherd of your soul. Make it your declaration that the Lord is my shepherd, and I am His sheep, I will hear His voice, and I will follow His leading.

Shepherd of my soul I give you full control,

Wherever You may lead I will foll-ow.

I have made the choice to listen for Your vo-ice,

Wherever You may lead I will go.

Be it in a quiet pasture or by a gentle stream,

The Shepherd of my soul is by my side.

Should I face a mighty mountain or a valley dark and deep,

The Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

Shepherd of my soul Oh You have made me whole,

Where’er I hear You call how my tea-ars flow.

How I feel your love how I want to se-rve

I gladly give my heart to You O – Lord.

Be it in the flowing river or in the quiet night,

The Shepherd of my soul is by my side.

Should I face the stormy weather or the dangers of this world.

The Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

About this Plan

Rabboni

Having the Lord as a Shepherd, as The Shepherd, or as our Shepherd would be mind-blowing. But it has to be the Lord is 'my personal shepherd,' and that is the most astonishing truth. If the Lord is your Shepherd, and you are His sheep, He will take care of EVERYTHING. Special thanks to Martin Nystrom for the Hymn "Shepherd of my soul" featured in this plan.
