GenerositySample
DAY FOUR: Everything Belongs to God
If everything I’ve mentioned already has not convinced you to be generous, let me inform you about the downside of not being a giver.
When you do not give, you are taking what belongs to God. As mentioned previously, everything you have comes from God. When you do not give, you block what God has in store for you. If you release what you have, God will give you more.
When you do not give, you keep yourself in poverty. People who don’t give are always in need.
By now, I hope you have it in your heart to be a giver, and you are excited about being able to fill your heart with generous acts, having a generous spirit, and a positive attitude about giving. Here are other reasons to be generous:
1. Do it because you love God, and you know whatever you do for God will last.
2. Do it because you are a believer, and you live by Godly principles.
3. Do it because when you do, you feel better about yourself.
4. Do it because you want to be a productive contributor to society.
5. Do it because there are those in need, and if you don’t do it, they won’t get the help they need.
Daily Reflection
Generosity is a gift given freely from your heart. Having a generous spirit is the act of giving unconditionally without seeking something in return. Think about how you practice generosity in your daily life. Consider the reasons why you give and think about what you expect to receive through your giving. Are you simply generous, or do you expect something in return?
Scriptures for the day:
One person gives freely yet gains even more; another withholds unduly but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. - Proverbs 11:24-25
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. - 1 John 3:16-18
Prayer:
Lord, create in me a clean heart and help me to be a generous giver simply because I have it to give and because it pleases you for me to help others. Help me to give without expecting something in return.

About this Plan
Being generous is not always about money. Also, just because you are a giver does not mean you have a generous spirit, it’s about the heart and it’s about following God’s example. In this 7-day Bible Plan featuring videos, we’ll encourage you to be generous to others and to yourself. We’ll discuss your gifts, time, talents, forgiveness and you will learn the benefits of having a generous spirit.
