The Power of Your Words

DAY 4 OF 4

OUR WORDS IMPACT THE LIVES AND FAITH OF OTHERS

“And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:  And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it...And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.” Mark 11:12-14, 20-21

Jesus cursed a fig tree because it failed to produce fruit in its season. The disciples heard His words and witnessed its fulfillment. When we proclaim the Name of Christ, the people around us are impacted by what we say. Our words will edify and build faith in others or cause them to stumble and fall away.

“Do not use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” Ephesians 4:29

PRAYER: Father, I pray my words will always strengthen, edify, and increase the faith of others. May I bring forth the fruit of souls for Christ.

Day 3

About this Plan

The Power of Your Words

In Matthew 13:18-23, Jesus taught his disciples the power of words. The seed, which is sown, represents the word of God. The ground that receives the seed symbolizes the conditions of the hearts of mankind. The fruit which came forth is the manifestation of the word. The words we speak impact our life and the life of others. In this devotional, we will discover the power of our words.
