Purpose

I learned a long time ago that I was not an island. Although I am an only child and have always been very independent, I never was meant to live life alone. Neither are you! Sometimes when people fail to be there for you, it is easy to isolate, to internally determine, “I don’t need anyone. No one can be counted on to help me.” But that is not the way God meant for us to live.

No one can mature and accomplish their life purpose in a vacuum. No one succeeds without the help of other people. No one learns without interaction with other people, and no one can say, “I don’t need people.”

The secret is to recognize that the people you need are healthy, purposeful, positive, spiritual people. These kinds of folks make a difference! When they impact your life for good, you can pretty well know they are heaven sent. God knows the people you need in your life to accomplish His good plan for you, and He sends them your way. Though you may not realize it at the moment, with a little time, you can see how He has “connected the dots” in your life and has sent you special people to help you. Like the people God empowered to help Moses, God has sent people to you to help you bear your burdens and to grow.

Why not make a list of the people God has sent to help you along the way? Then take some time to thank Him for what they have meant to you. Then take a little more time to write each one a note telling them how grateful you are that they are in your life.
