NKJV 365 Day Reading PlanSample
Family Foundations
The first institution ordained by God was the family. No more beautiful relationship exists in the world than that found in the family. This passage of the Scriptures gives a picture of three generations of one of the world’s most renowned families. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were the sires of the family chosen by God to perpetuate the worship of the one true God and through whom the Savior would come into the world.
The foundation of every family should be found in a relationship with God. This passage affords an insight into this family’s relation to God. Isaac, possibly the least renowned of this trio of fathers, is pictured beseeching God for his barren wife. The basic purpose of the family is the perpetuation of the race Isaac looked to God for help in providing children for this purpose.
