Superhero Sidekicks: Biblical Characters Who Did Big and Small Things for GodSample
Superhero or Sidekick?
Have you ever wanted to be a superhero? After all, who doesn’t want to help save the world?
But did you know that the world has already been saved? It was saved by the best superhero of all time and the only One who could save it: Jesus.
Jesus is our Superhero. (We’ll use a capital “S” when we talk about Him.) But there were a lot of smaller “superheroes” in the Bible—people God used to make amazing things happen that you’ve probably heard stories about. Like Joshua and the walls of Jericho (Josh. 6), or Daniel and the lion's den (Dan. 6).
And you probably know that every good superhero has a sidekick! What about the people in the Bible who helped the “superheroes”? Like friends who stood up to a king together or a mom who prayed for her son. They’re important too—even if they don’t get as much attention or fame as other characters.
No matter how big or little you are, you’re important to God too! And you can be used by Him to do great things. When you let God use your life for His wonderful plan, you get to be a “sidekick” to the most amazing, fantastic, wonderful, and loving Superhero of all—Jesus!
Family focus:
- Who’s your favorite superhero? What do you like about him or her?
- What “superheroes” from the Bible can you think of? Did they have sidekicks? What did they do to help?
- How can God use you to be Jesus’ sidekick today? Think of ways you can love and serve others in your family, your school, your church, or your neighborhood.
