A Christian Mother's Creed

DAY 7 OF 8

I will not live in Hypocrisy and I will not Gossip in my Home.

A Christian mother does not live in hypocrisy because she is after God’s heart. She is not two-faced. She is a Christian all week and all year round. She acts like Christ outdoor and indoor. She is who you know her to be, not living a double life.

A Christian mother does not tolerate gossip in her home. She protects her children’s hearts. She knows gossiping can steal her children’s innocence and it sows seeds of distrust for people in her children’s heart. She knows gossiping denies her children the ability to fulfill Philippians 4:8 which states, “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Gossip always wants to find its way into our family-life. We must exercise discipline, take our hurts and feelings to God in prayer, and protect our children’s hearts. It may be okay to say, “Mary made me feel this way” just to get it off your heart and release the pain. It is not okay to say, “Mary made me feel this way, everyone knows she is ___”.

Question for Reflection: Am I encouraging or allowing gossip in my home?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for helping me to live right and avoid gossip in my home.  I repent for every deliberate and indeliberate acts of gossip. Help me to see people the way You see them.  Help me to think things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; moral, and praise-worthy like Your Word says. Thank you for helping me. In Jesus name. Amen.
